Ministry to Youth
The CRUX student ministry exists to introduce students to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; challenge students to grow in that relationship; and encourage them to share that relationship with others.
CRUX Statement of Faith You do not have to know a lot of things to make your lives count for God. You need to know a few things and be so gripped by them that you are willing to lay down your life for them! With this in mind we hold to a few things with all of our hearts: 1. God has exists eternally in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three persons are equal in power, character, and glory. 2. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. There are no errors in the text when you take into account figures of speech, historical context, and purpose of discourse. The Bible is the absolute authority of what we believe and how we live. 3. Anyone who looks to the Lord for salvation will receive it as a free gift. There is nothing you can do to earn or deserve that salvation, it is, again, the free gift of God. 4. Whether a person accepts Christ or not determines their eternal destination. Either to heaven to be with God, or to an eternal hell where you are separated from Him. 5. The main goal of life is to delight in God - there is no difference between being a Christian and loving the things of God. For example it is impossible to say I love God and not love His Word, or at least have a desire to understand it. 6. We do not have an exhaustive statement of faith, but we focus very heavily on the above and mastery of a few things that change us eternally. |
God as the Blazing Center of Life
There are many things that compete for our affections in life. Our passions and hungers constantly change and shift as we grow older and mature. However, in life the one passion that should be constant is our passion for God. When God changes a human heart (Ezekiel 36) and causes growth, a passion to know Him and serve Him alone as the #1 priority of life is constant. When serving a God that does not change, no matter what the change we endure, that passion to know God does not change because God does not change. I remember the first time I was in love! It did not matter what classes I had and what after school activities I was in - I wanted to know her more and more. I was committed to do whatever it took to get to know her! However, as she changed and I changed our relationship changed. Since God never changes and our need for Him never changes our passion for Him can be constant.
The only hope for all creation is that God change their heart so that they may see their need for Him; and that people in response seek Him with all they are and make Him the number one passion of life. May God grant to us all such life changing grace and mercy in our time of need!
